Blue Heron Gulfstream MRO and Hanger
Gray Construction partnered with leading business jet manufacturer, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, and top business aviation services company, Jet Aviation, on a new maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facility at the West Palm Beach International Airport in Florida.
This was a design-build facility at 168,000 ft² which replaced a smaller operation on the southside of the airport. The new facility includes offices, back shops, as well as an approximated 75,000 ft² maintenance hangar for Gulfstream. Additionally, the project consists of an all-new storage hangar, customer offices, and fuel farm.
For this airport hangar project, FiberForce was not only the preferred fiber supplier but was also utilized as a slab consultant and worked closely with T&T Construction, the concrete subcontractor, on slab details. FiberForce also collaborated with Cemex, the ready mix supplier, on the mix design, flexural strength, and compressive strength. Slab thickness varied throughout with 4”, 7”, and 10” slab areas designed with 7.5 lb/yd³ of macro fiber, FiberForce 750, with control joints extended out to 30 ft.
